Upgrading our alarm systems
We have upgraded the careline alarms and door entry systems at our Community Living schemes (also known as our Older Persons Accommodation).
Before introducing the new systems, we undertook an extensive engagement exercise to understand the extent to which residents valued the careline alarm service.
The upgrade was driven by the UK’s digital switchover, which is replacing the older copper landline network that our previous alarms relied upon. Combined with ageing equipment that was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and repair, this highlighted the need to invest in modern, reliable systems.
Ensuring value for money and suitability
As this is a charged service, it was important that we understood residents’ views before investing in new equipment and determined what residents considered to be affordable.
We conducted workshops and surveys with residents and their families to help decide on the right equipment. It was important to us that we made such an important decision with confidence that we fully understood our residents’ views.
Feedback showed that residents valued the service, and that ease of use and affordability were key factors. This helped shape the systems we selected and introduced across our schemes.
Residents received personalised support throughout the transition to help identify their individual needs and ensure a smooth changeover to the new technology.
