This week marks the launch of Awen Housing Group, our new identity for Monmouthshire Housing Association (MHA).
Established in 2008, the Group owns and manages more than 3900 homes and provides housing and support services across South East Wales.
While our roots remain firmly in Monmouthshire, our organisation has recently expanded into neighbouring Torfaen and Newport. The new name reflects both our growing reach and ambitions for the future.
Derived from Welsh tradition, Awen represents inspiration, creativity and flowing energy. It reflects the Group’s deep Welsh roots, heritage and culture, while also symbolising our commitment to creating opportunities and positive change for the people and communities we serve.
Alongside the new name, the organisation has launched a new vision, mission and values. The values of Caring, Trusted, Listening, Ambitious and Together were shaped through engagement with residents, partners and colleagues and reflect the themes that mattered most throughout the consultation process.

As we work towards our ambition of delivering 5,000 homes by 2030, our focus remains on supporting more people, enhancing services for our customers and creating new opportunities through our valued partnerships.
Our roots remain firmly planted in Monmouthshire, where our journey began almost two decades ago. As Awen, we are well placed to strengthen our impact and make an even greater difference across South East Wales.

We are introducing the new brand gradually and thoughtfully, prioritising day-to-day services and that resources are used responsibly. Alongside a refreshed website and visual identity, Awen gives us a brand that reflects who we are today and supports our ambitions for the future.
I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views and help shape our new identity. Their feedback played an important role in creating a brand that reflects both our heritage and our aspirations.
The launch comes at a time of continued success. The latest Welsh Government Tenant Satisfaction Survey results showed consistently strong performance across all service areas, while the organisation recently retained its Green/Green regulatory judgement, providing a strong platform for the future.
The launch of Awen Housing Group also coincides with the appointment of Ann Cornelious as Chair, succeeding Tony Deakin following his successful tenure in the role.
The rebrand is not the result of a merger and does not involve any other organisation. It reflects the evolution of the existing organisation and its aspirations for the future while remaining committed to the communities it has proudly served since 2008.
