Our Executive Team really know their stuff and are an approachable bunch! They have overall responsibility for the day to day running of Awen, ensuring we keep on track and continue to drive our business forward.

Gwyndaf Tobias – Chief Executive Officer

Gwyndaf joined Awen in July 2020 as Director of Resources, bringing with him over three decades of leadership experience across Higher Education, Health, Housing, and Local Government. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA), he has consistently championed financial integrity, strategic innovation, and public service excellence throughout his career.

Deeply passionate about housing, Gwyndaf is proud to lead Awen – an organisation he describes as bold, forward-thinking, and rooted in purpose. He is committed to driving transformational change that empowers communities, uplifts tenants, and nurtures staff. Under his leadership, Awen will continue to place people at the heart of its mission, delivering on a vision that blends social impact with operational excellence.

Michele Morgan – Director of Housing & Communities

Michele was appointed as Director of Housing & Communities in November 2018, having previously worked for Awen since stock transfer. Michele is a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Housing from Cardiff University.

Michele enjoys being a part of Awen’s journey to improve the housing stock and build new affordable homes for local people. As Director, she is responsible for ensuring we deliver high-quality homes and services to our tenants and this is something that she is incredibly passionate about.

Julie Stone – Director of Resources

Julie joined Awen in November 2024 as Interim Director of Resources. She brings a wealth of experience, having worked across multiple sectors including Professional Services, Telecoms and Defence sectors over the last 30 years.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Institute of Directors (Cert IoD), Julie’s commitment to the Monmouthshire area, where she has always lived, drives her passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives. Her mission is to ensure that Awen applies its resources innovatively and in a socially responsible way, so that the organisation remains financially robust as it fulfils its goal to provide affordable, high-quality homes and build thriving communities.

Our board members come from all walks of life, not just from the social housing sector. This helps us to see the bigger picture and look at things from a different point of view.

They set our corporate strategy, and make sure we are complying with all our legal and regulatory obligations and working to the highest standards of governance, accountability, and integrity. They challenge us to be the best that we can be.

Ann Cornelius – Chair 

Board member since February 2025 and Chair since September 2026

Ann is a senior housing professional who has operated as an Executive Director and Chief Executive in Housing Associations in England and Wales for over thirty years. She currently works as a consultant with housing organisations, supporting them with large scale change projects and business transformation, governance reviews and developing risk strategies.

She specialises in working with care and supported housing services to develop policies, to improve practice and to assess compliance with regulation. Ann also recently completed her term of office as a Non- Executive Director and Chair of a domestic abuse charity.

John Miller

Board member since November 2020

John worked overseas for approximately 20 years. During this time holding several senior executive positions including CEO of PET–ICT, one of Malaysia’s largest ICT companies. John was also the Group CIO for Petronas, Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company which at the time was a Fortune 100 company.

John has an extensive ICT career spanning multiple industries including pharmaceutical, education, software development, consulting engineering and oil & gas. He is a strategist and has been described as a transformational leader, understanding the requirements for successful execution.

Cael Sendell-Price

Board member since November 2020

Cael studied Law at Aberystwyth University followed by a Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School. In addition, Cael has completed an MSc in International Criminal Justice. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply and in 2020 won their Excellence Award for Young talent.

Cael worked across local government for several years running complex multimillion pound procurement exercises across a range of categories. He was Head of Strategic Procurement, for one of the largest Councils in the UK. He now works as a management consultant advising high profile public and private clients on procurement and supply chain transformation programmes. He also volunteers as a Magistrate dealing with criminal cases.

Nicola Tindale

Board member since September 2023

Nicola is a very experienced property professional having jointly set up, and been an executive director of, a property  development company for over 27 years. Her particular experience is of residential development, seeking to create architecturally excellent homes and quality environments. She is passionate about building environments that create community and homes that can foster lives.

Nicola is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. She has three adult children and so knows only too well the struggle to afford rents and the clear need for affordable homes.

Lynda Campbell

Board member since September 2023

Lynda has a 20 year + career in senior leadership where she led a team of 3500 people across multiple sites for a major utility organisation in the UK. In the last 7 years she has worked with a variety of organisations in many sectors including airlines, hospitality, engineering and major corporate organisations; supporting them with their people and cultural strategy and service experience, which included 2 years with one of the largest Housing Associations in England.

She is fascinated by all things people and culture and has a Masters in Business and Organisational Psychology. She has also led cultural transformations and many change management projects within businesses. She is married, with children and grandchildren and enjoys golfing when she gets the time.

Tim Jackson

Board member since October 2024

Tim is a qualified accountant and has worked as an Executive Director for social housing organisations across England and Wales, mainly in finance and resource roles, and more recently in service transformation.

Tim has also held a number of non-Executive roles in the social housing, health and charity sectors. He is passionate about social housing and its ability to transform the lives of individuals and communities. Tim is looking forward to working with Awen to help support its aim to provide great homes and places in South Wales.

In his personal time he travels, cycles and coaches hockey.

Julie Evans

Board member since February 2025

Julie was appointed Executive Director of Property Services in 2019, having previously held a number of directorships with Curo since joining in 2006 when the business was called Somer Housing Group. Julie’s prior roles within the Group have included Director of Tenancy Services, Director of Customer Services, Director of Neighbourhood Services and, most recently, Director of Asset Management.

Julie is a career housing professional with nearly forty years’ experience in both English and Welsh housing sectors. She brings a proven track record of success in operational, strategic and transformational leadership roles in addition to seven years’ experience of strategic direction-setting and change implementation as a non-executive director of a Bristol community housing provider, United Communities.

Julie is Curo’s Health and Safety compliance lead and Business Continuity and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Steve Dimmick

Board member since September 2026

Steve Dimmick brings more than 25 years’ experience in digital technology, commercial leadership and governance across the private and third sectors. As founder and former CEO of software company doopoll, Steve led the business through its growth and acquisition in 2022. He has worked extensively with housing associations across Wales, as well as Community Housing Cymru and TPAS Cymru, helping to develop innovative approaches to tenant engagement, including the State of the Nation Tenant Pulse survey.

Steve is currently Chair of Literature Wales and a Trustee of Clwb Ifor Bach. He also serves as a Non-Executive Director with City Executive Search and is a member of the Future Generations Commissioner’s Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee. Originally from Blaina, Steve is passionate about using technology, strong governance and commercial thinking to strengthen organisations and create lasting social impact. He is committed to supporting Monmouthshire Housing Association in delivering great homes, thriving communities and opportunities for local people.

Glyn Jones 

Board member since September 2026

Glyn is a qualified accountant who has previously held Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and Finance Director roles across the NHS in Wales and South West of England. He has also worked in Jobcentre Plus and a health related charity and is currently a volunteer trustee on the board of Citizens Advice Caerphilly Blaenau Gwent, where he was also treasurer for 11 years.  These experiences have helped him develop a keen interest in the value and wider benefits that public services can bring to local communities.
